Everything you need to evaluate it, on one page
Requirements, what the installation ships with, how licensing works and what happens the day something fails. Made to print and take to a meeting.
What Viper is
| What it does | Playout and automation for television channels: the signal goes on air by itself, with the schedule already loaded |
|---|---|
| How it installs | One installer, on a Windows PC. Nothing to assemble from parts |
| What you do NOT need | Proprietary cards, dedicated servers or third-party licences the channel has to buy |
| Language | Spanish, including support |
What the installation ships with
| The station service | Runs as a Windows service: it starts with the machine, with nobody logged in |
|---|---|
| The video engine | Bundled in the installer. Nothing to buy or install separately |
| The application | The screen operators use, on the same machine or on others across the network |
| The customer area | Web: installer download, the account's stations and support tickets |
How licensing works
| Per station | Every machine that goes on air consumes one seat of the account |
|---|---|
| Workstation seats | They operate a station over the network and also consume a seat |
| What is licensed | Each channel enables what it uses: recording, for instance, is licensed separately |
| Without internet | The station stays on air for a grace period, which has an end; the licence revalidates when the connection returns |
| Decommissioning a machine | Frees its seat, which becomes available for another |
The day something fails
| Support | By ticket, from the customer area, with history |
|---|---|
| Who answers | The team that builds the product |
| Updates | Included while maintenance is current |
| Record of what aired | The As-Run keeps what went out, at what time, and whether automation or a person fired it. It exports to CSV |
Machine requirements
Measured on a real installation, not estimated.
| Full station | Workstation | |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | 4 cores with AVX2 (Intel Haswell or AMD Zen onwards). Recommended: 6 or 8 | Dual core — any office PC from the last few years |
| Memory | 8 GB minimum · 16 GB recommended | 4 GB minimum · 8 GB recommended |
| Graphics | A card with OpenGL 4.5. A modern integrated GPU holds one channel; for more than one, or for heavy graphics, a dedicated Nvidia | Integrated is enough: a workstation never goes on air, it only draws the interface |
| Disk | SSD. 2 GB for the program, plus your media library separately | SSD, 500 MB |
| Operating system | Windows 11 (recommended) or Windows 10, 64-bit | Windows 11 or Windows 10, 64-bit |
- The full station is the one that goes on air. Workstations are the machines used for scheduling, ingest or building graphics.
- These numbers are for one signal on air and recording at the same time. If you plan to run two signals off the same machine, talk to us first.
- Size the media library by hours of material: one hour at 8 Mbps takes about 3.6 GB.
- It does not run on a virtual machine: the video engine needs real hardware.
