We used to keep someone on call until the schedule ended, and that someone was almost always me. Now I build the week on Monday and the channel runs itself. The first night I left at seven I could not sleep thinking something would break; by the second I did not even think about it.

We are four operators across three shifts and each one used to do things their own way. What changed is not that it goes on air — it already did — it is that now I know who touched what and when. Material reaches us in every format that exists, and we used to lose half a day normalising before we could schedule anything. And output recording took an argument off our plate: we hand over the file of what actually aired, not a report.
